Death Metal Font 1, and an introduction to Architectual Demise

Hello again, if there was ever a first time. Now, if you're a fan of the heavier metals, I'm sure you've come across the death metal font, i.e. what the fuck is this, scribbles?? It's like the logo was designed to make sure you don't know who is making the music (but it doesn't work). Here, let me give you an example. Not very challenging, I know, but I bet plenty of you can't figure it out. The damn good melodic black metal band:

Can you read that? It's not impossible for someone who has seen such things before, but seriously guys. If you're wondering who it is, well lets just say the fact that their name is Naglfar makes it a little difficult comprehend what your eyes see. But don't judge them by that!! Here, listen to their tunes for yourself:

Naglfar - Black God Aftermath
Sheol, 2003

Ahh... That's good metal.

Now for the part about Architectural Demise. That is, from what I understand, a one man band who goes by the name of Acid around the Deadknife Netlabel, an online netlabel that distributes releases by artists in the very underground of dark music... For free. He focuses on making banging ass beats coupled with banging ass metal guitar sounds. Example:

Architectural Demise - Brutality
Album and Year... not so sure, deal w/ it

That isn't even my favorite song by him by a longshot. You can check him out on the Carrying The Deadly Blast compilations from the Deadknife Site: http://deadkniferecords.net/ Unfortunately for us, they seem to have shut down, but many of the downloads are still good. As far as Architectural Demise...

All downloads are free and legal under the Creative Commons Lisence (just don't steal it, fuckers)

Architectural Demise - Malfeasance, 2008

On another note, Front Line Assembly has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. I am going to hunt down their newest release, Improvised.Electronic.Device, and give it a spin and tell you what I think. Hopefully it will be more than Artificial Soldier 2.0, but if it is I'm sure it will still have some bangin tracks. Anyway, just so metal isn't the only thing I post around here, here is a parting gift:

The Smiths - That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore
Meat Is Murder, Year like the mid 80s...ish

Post Alpha On Omega

What the hell is Omega Music Blog? Well, hell if I know quite yet. But, I figure I can't be the only person who likes nearly every kind of good music, and maybe I can get a few like-minded people to read this, or maybe even... Follow (!!) this blog. But, nobody comes to a music blog to read about music blogging, so maybe we should get underway.

A Place To Bury Strangers - Everything Always Goes Wrong
Exploding Head, 2009

Now, I've never been good with genres. Is this what they call Noise Rock? Not entirely sure. But, this song, like almost every other one from Exploding Head, is distortion and feedback turned into art, but without being painful to listen to (some people really fuck that part up). Exploding Head was also and accidental find for me, and quickly became one of my favorite albums of '09. But, I'm not saying I have no appreciation for abrasiveness. Although my love for Merzbow is minimal...

Whitehouse - Why You Never Became A Dancer
Bird Seed, 2003

...I have slightly more for the Power Electronics powerhouse Whitehouse. What is there to say here, really? Don't like the music? Well, don't tell Whitehouse that. Not because he would be offended, but more because he would laugh in your face, because this is not music made for people who... Well, it's not really even made for people. The lyrics, however, make me crack the FUCK UP. If you all believe in rock and roll, then stand up for what you believe in! You fucking wankers!

Front 242 - Headhunter
Front By Front, 1988

If you aren't familiar with Front 242, watch this video. One of the most essential industrial bands ever, not to mention the fathers of EBM, Front 242 needs little introduction, and Headhunter needs even less. A-ha! This song freaking cranks. Turn up the bass, then turn up the volume, then blow your speakers. Don't let the fact that this song is from 88 bother you; unlike some industrial songs from that era, Headhunter doesn't sound all cheesy and outdated (I love you Front Line Assembly, but I am looking at you here). Busy and noisy as this song may be, it isn't obnoxious whatsoever (if you have an ear for this kind of thing). Not to say obnoxious is a bad thing in music. In fact, obnoxiousness is something I almost look for in rap music. For example...

Travis Porter ft. Frenchie & Waka Flocka Flame - Hell You Talmbout
Streets R Us Mixtape, 2009

This song and video are so crude and almost artless that it's art. Strap, Ali, Quez, Frenchie, and Waka Flocka all rap about their damn selves, how much fun they have, and how much money they have. The video more or less directly reflects this. Streets R Us is one of my favorite mixtapes out there, although DJ Teknikz ruins it for me by talking for about 50% of the albums runtime (lol). Don't like it? Hell you talmbout? And I figure I have time for one more (although you probably stopped reading by now (faggot)), so here it goes:

Pelican - Forecast For Today
Pelican, 2001

This song... Fucking owns. 'Art Metal' band Pelican has garnered a lot of support over the past few years, for obvious reasons. Forecast For Today, although heavier than a lot of their later work, is still a good a place as any to start for this band; constantly evolving music, without getting pretentious or boring. Something you can bang your head out too, but still provides an in-depth listening experience. Listen to this song while working, and watch your efficiency increase by 25% ... Or more!... But that's about it for post Alpha on Omega Music Blog. Until next time, music lovers.
